Raw Poetry by Rev. Shakes Spear
Roots (for Lisa) I used to think I loved you But now I only do I used to wonder ‘why?’ But the answer’s always ‘who?’ I’ve never mapped a calendar ‘Though I’ve traveled Space and Time And here I am once again Shining in my prime We could take some pictures Or gather souvenirs And we can grow our love Watered by our tears Sure, our roots are dirty But our fruit is gleaming bright Nice and ripe and juicy Just begging for a bite I never meant to love you But then I saw your eyes That’s the day I knew I Really was alive 2-17-24
